[NFL] Atlanta vs Kansas City (#1425)

For a team ranked 18th overall in defense, the KC Chiefs are kicking Atlanta's butt. The Falcons look dreadful. With under six minutes left in the first half Atlanta QB Vick has been sacked twice, knocked down, and chased all over the field. Atlanta's offense looks confused and unprepared -- that is, even more confused and unprepared than in previous weeks.

Worse, the Atlanta defense is being steamrollered by KC as well -- no pass rush, no run defense, no defensive backfield coverage. Atlanta's D has been the only saving grace in the past few weeks, but they gave up 21 points to KC in the first 20 minutes of the game. Partly thanks to four personal fouls in the first quarter, fouls attributed (by the Fox color team) to Defensive Coordinator Alex Gibbs' coaching style.

In general, this team (Atlanta) looks like a poorly coached squad. The offensive "system" still confuses our extremely agile and athletic QB, who is being forced to stand in the backfield instead of playing on instinct. The defense is relying on stunts and trick techniques instead of letting the players play to their natural strengths.

This first half has been dismal. Unless something changes radically at half-time the Falcons are going to be 4-2 by the end of the afternoon.

Ugly.

Well, with the game 3/4 over this looks like a route, an embarrassing collapse, a disaster of Biblical proportions. KC just scored another TD on the feckless Atlanta defense, making it 49-10. This is abysmal. I think I'll go dig in the garden, or something...
