I’m a Blogjet user, and I like it (this post was created in Blogjet.). This tidbit (found via Jack Vinson) is an interesting little commentary on how our expectations for truth in advertising are increasing. It’s no longer that we just don’t like being lied to (we never did,) but now it’s a matter of “just how stupid do you think we are?”
Someone is claiming to be the only WYSIWYG blog editor and buying AdWords to prove it. Dmitry Chestnykh, the creator of BlogJet, found something entertaining. Competitor is a liar? The power of telling the truth.
There’s a competitor to BlogJet. I won’t call its name but it has something to do with rockets and posts. One more hint: it costs $150.
I’ve noticed it when I typed "blogjet" in Google and found its AdWords ad that claimed: "Faster than BlogJet". ...
The guy just doesn’t get the nature of the Web and the power of blogs. If you don’t tell the truth, somebody will notice it and blog about it. Then somebody else will see the post and blog about it. Then everyone will be blogging that you’re a liar. Do you want this to happen? No? Tell the truth.
I use BlogJet for authoring, and the company has also created a targeted ad Qumana too. Google for BlogJet or Qumana to see the offending ad. The same thing happens at Lycos, AskJeeves, About, but not at MSN or Yahoo.

Dmitry quoted out of context. The full claim, which he truncated:

Note the "and." It's a compound claim-- there are editors with the individual features, but no other with all three.
It's simple to check the full claim. Just go to the home page (which he didn't link to): http://www.anconia.com/rocketpost
Instead you're spreading misinformation from a direct competitor. Disappointing.

I want to note that Manish Vij from Anconia respondedto my earlier post vis a vis BlogJet and I have promised to take a further look at RocketPost and correct any errors. Updates as soon as I'm done.

I downloaded RocketPost today, to close an open item from October regarding a complaint from BlogJet author Dmitry Chestnykh and response from Manesh Vij of Anconcia, authors of RocketPost. While downloading and installing I revisited this issue - checked
the ads, the Anconia site, etc. The disputed Google AdWords ad still appears at the top of a search for
BlogJet claiming "Faster than BlogJet." The Anconia web page still
says, "The only blog editor with WYSIWYG editing, full local editing
and full blog import." - which appears to be valid from the description
provided. The result - Chestnykh does seem to overstate his
complaint - RocketPost does not claim to be the first WYSIWYG editor -
but Vij does have a misleading "comparison chart" on the RocketPost site.
Anconia claims some interesting features for RocketPost, including local management of posts (by downloading local copies from the server) and cross-posting. I was unable to test or validate most of them because I couldn't configure RocketPost to work correctly. My experience is that the published blog APIs are still pretty
loose - lots of things are unspecificed and prone to breakage - but
RocketPost offers the lowest level of API support among the editors
I've tried. The only API seems to be MetaWeblog, and while I did get a server connection and sent messages to the server, I wasn't able to successfully make or retrieve blog posts. I'll have to wait for broader or better API support to see if the speed claims are accurate.

Terry, thanks for the followup. You're welcome to email me directly re: setup help. Conversant is not explicitly supported, but RocketPost supports the most widely installed blogging APIs (Blogger, Movable Type, MetaWeblog). Try using a custom connection address directly to your RPC script.

Also, I'm open ears re: what you find misleading in the comparison. In my experience, people who make that claim haven't seen the demo (http://www.anconia.com/rocketpost/demo) or extensively used the trial. In that case, you're well within your rights to be skeptical, but it's unfair to call it misleading.

I did attempt to configure a custom connection using the Moveable Type setup and the MetaWeblog API setting. I could not make it work. The MT settings had specific fields, such as MT directory, that did not makes sense for API connections.
As for the misleading chart, it shows a number of features as "RocketPost only" that are fairly well represented in other blog clients, such as spell-check, tagging, and auto-updates.
When I have time to investigate blog cients again I will contact you for assistance.
